National Semiconductor Announces New Regional Vice President, Japan Division

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National Semiconductor Corp. announced today it has appointed Jeff Waters as regional vice president of National's Japan Division. Waters, who will be based in Tokyo, will oversee National's sales and marketing efforts in Japan and report to Michael Noonen, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Sales. He replaces Juergen Heldt who passed away on February 15.

Heldt became vice president of National's Japan office in 2000. Previously a member of the management team in National's European regional headquarters (Furstenfeldbruck, Germany), Heldt was scheduled to complete his assignment in Japan this year and return to Europe. He had been with National since 1986 holding a number of technical, sales and marketing management positions.

Previously, Waters was National's vice president of Worldwide Marketing, where he was responsible for leading the company's efforts in new product definition and launch, as well as corporate marketing communications. In that position, he was instrumental in launching National's PowerWise(R) brand underscoring National's focus on high-performance, energy-efficient analog products.

Waters first joined National in 1987. His roles with the company have spanned a variety of product groups and disciplines, with positions in engineering, operations, marketing and general management including serving as product line director for National's Interface Product Group. Outside of his work at National, Waters worked in management consulting, as well as in research and development for Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. in Atsugi, Japan.

Jeff Waters received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Santa Clara University and a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University.

National currently employs more than 100 people in Japan with offices in Tokyo and Osaka.
