New Weight Watchers(R) Smart Ones(R) Fruit Inspirations(TM) Frozen Entrees Satisfy Sweet Cravings with the Goodness of Fruit
From fighting off the urge to munch during an afternoon slump to staring
into the refrigerator for a sweet, late-night treat, many women struggle
to overcome daily cravings that can destroy their healthy eating plans.
That’s why Heinz is introducing new Weight
Watchers Smart Ones Fruit Inspirations, the first line of frozen
nutritional meals to feature real fruit combined with juicy lean protein
and crispy vegetables, which satisfy hunger and curb sweet cravings at
the same time.
The meals stay true to the taste and flavors women love while helping
them squeeze more fruit into their diets. In fact, 91 percent of women
say they do not consume the recommended four daily servings (or two
cups) of fruit,1 which means they are missing
out on key nutrients including vitamins A and C. Each entree contains
pieces of 100 percent fruit such as mandarin orange, pineapple, mango or
cranberry.
Celebrity Chef Adds Inspiration to Meals
Weight Watchers Smart Ones Fruit Inspirations were developed with the
help of celebrity chef Devin Alexander, author of "The
Biggest Loser Cookbook” and host of Discovery
Health’s "Healthy
Decadence,” to ensure each entree captures the
taste and flavors many women love.
"I’ve dedicated my
career to helping people eat healthier without sacrificing flavor,”
Alexander said. "As someone who is constantly
sampling restaurant dishes, I am delighted that these meals deliver the
same decadent flavors – conveniently, at home
or on the go, at any time and without all the fat and calories.” Decadent Flavors, Smart Solutions
The meals are available in four varieties –
all with fewer than 350 calories and 8 grams of fat or less per serving:
Orange Sesame Chicken – Breaded
chicken tenderloins and mandarin oranges in a zesty sesame orange
sauce with rice
Pineapple Beef Teriyaki – Tender
strips of beef, diced pineapple and a vegetable medley in a sweet
teriyaki sauce with rice
Honey Mango Barbeque Chicken – White
meat chicken with diced mangos in a honey barbeque sauce with spinach
and Asiago cheese orzo pasta
Cranberry Turkey Medallions –
Roasted turkey medallions in a lightly spiced cranberry sauce paired
with roasted potato wedges, sliced carrots and green beans
The entrees are available in grocery stores nationwide in the frozen
food section for a suggested retail price of approximately $3.
"Consumers are looking for convenient ways to
add fruit to their daily meals and Weight Watchers Smart Ones provide a
nutritious, delicious solution for making healthy eating choices
throughout the day,” said John Bennett,
associate director, Weight Watchers Smart Ones. "We
are committed to satisfying consumers’ food
cravings 24/7 by offering a variety of healthier options that deliver
the taste and intense flavors they love.” Additional Fruit Tips to Fight Sweet Cravings
A recent national survey of U.S. women found two-thirds (63 percent) of
women experience food cravings at least once a day and seven out of 10
women say these temptations keep them from sticking to a healthy eating
plan.1 In fact, 79 percent of women crave
sweets more than anything.1 Taste guru Devin
Alexander suggests the following healthy eating tips to satisfy sweet
cravings:
Rise and Dine – For a sweet citrus
breakfast, cut a grapefruit in half, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake
at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes until warmed through.
Dress up your Greens – Add dried
cherries, sliced strawberries or pears to baby spinach salad tossed in
light balsamic dressing and sprinkle with crumbled goat cheese for a
main meal or a delicious side.
Swap the Sauce – Instead of using
heavy cream sauces, seek out fresh fruit salsas or chutneys to add
full flavor without extra calories.
Frozen Delight – Drizzle frozen
grapes or bananas with a touch of chocolate syrup for a sweet treat. It’s
naturally fat-free!
