Sikorsky Delivers Three S-92(R) Helicopters to Korean Air Force

SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. marked the delivery of three S-92(R) helicopters to the Korean Air Force today with a ceremony during the Seoul Air Show. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. .

"With significantly enhanced aircraft survivability, communication and navigation capabilities, the S-92 helicopter is a proven leader in the VIP and Head-of-State mission categories. Today's delivery ceremony is further recognition of the strength of this aircraft as well as the strong relationship that Sikorsky and the Korean Air Force continue to build," said Sikorsky Vice President Stephen B. Estill.

The S-92 helicopter is equipped to perform a variety of missions including offshore oil transport, head of state and VIP transport, search and rescue, and commercial airline service. The S-92 helicopter continues to perform at a high operational tempo with the fleet recently passing 58,000 total flight hours. The S-92 was the first helicopter in the world certified to the latest U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency safety standards. The S-92 features a Rotor Ice Protection System (RIPS), which is available on S-92 helicopter military variants as well as commercial aircraft.
