Sybase Solidifies Leadership in China's Financial Market with US$5 Million Agricultural Bank of China Deployment
DUBLIN, Calif., July 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sybase, Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced that Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) has awarded Sybase(R) a US$5 million contract to provide a data platform that applies sophisticated business intelligence analytics to the bank's operations. This contract is one of the biggest deployments of Sybase IQ(R) analytics server in China.
ABC's traditional way of reporting -- which relies on distributed data collection -- coupled with a loosely-federated operation analysis system was beginning to impact decision-making. The bank asked for a new nationwide networked and integrated system that not only standardizes operations, but also requires minimum data storage resources.
"To satisfy ABC's requirements is especially challenging because this bank has the largest number of branches and most diverse business in one of the world's fastest growing economies," said Horace Chow, vice president of Sybase Asia Pacific and general manager of Sybase Greater China. "Our win after the bank's strenuous selection process not only demonstrated the competitiveness of our cutting-edge technologies and unparalleled customer service, but also extend our leadership in the financial services market."
Sybase IQ analytics server typically delivers query performance 10 to 100 times faster than ordinary data management platforms while using standard hardware and operating systems. Sybase IQ is designed especially for the highly efficient storage, retrieval and analysis of massive volumes of data.
"As China's financial market opens up to foreign investment, state-owned commercial banks must further improve their decision-making efficiency and operation standards," said an ABC executive. "We believe that Sybase's outstanding products and services are much needed in China's increasingly competitive financial industry."
After a three-year long selection process, the bank chose a number of Sybase's key technologies such as Sybase IQ, Sybase Adaptive Server(R) Enterprise database, Sybase PowerBuilder(R) tool and Sybase PowerDesigner(R) tool, a seamless combination that offers speed, agility, scalability and stability.
