Breakfast in Bed Out of Fashion This Mother's Day; FamilyFun.com Moms Report What They Really Want

    Entertainment Editors

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2005--With Mother's Day just around the corner, many of us are asking ourselves, "What does mom really want?" Luckily, FamilyFun.com comes to the rescue -- shedding some light on this annual mystery through its 2005 Mother's Day Online Survey. When it comes to her preference of how to spend the day, the survey results disprove a common notion.
The site polled online moms and asked them what their dream Mother's Day would look like. While often thought of as the ultimate Mother's Day treat, breakfast in bed ranked last with only 13% of respondents choosing it as their treat of choice. Modern moms want to go out, with the majority (almost half) preferring to spend the day in a special outing with the family. But not everything has changed, homemade gifts are still as popular as ever.
"While certain tastes have changed, there are a few things that remain universal preferences for moms," said Emily Smith, vice president of FamilyFun.com. "Homemade cards, crafts and meals from dad and the kids still top moms' favorites lists."

Results of the entire poll were:

-- What is your dream Mother's Day? Special outing with family 49% At-home celebration with husband and kids 21% Time to myself 17% Breakfast in bed 13%

-- What is your favorite homemade Mother's Day gift? Card from my kids 44% A meal cooked by husband or kids 30% Crafts 18% Help-around-the-house coupons 9%

-- How will you choose to honor your own mother this year? Send her flowers or a gift 34% Take her out for a meal 24% Send her a card 23% Call her 19%

-- How has your family traditionally celebrated Mother's Day? Simple gathering 44% Relaxing day with no set agenda 41% Large gathering 12% Something formal and festive 3%
