U.S. Bancorp Women Named Top Banking Team in the United States
U.S. Banker, a SourceMedia publication, has ranked U.S. Bancorp
number one in the nation for the second year in a row for its "Top
Banking Team.” The award was announced in the
October 2007 "Most Powerful Women in Banking”
issue. Two U.S. Bancorp women ranked in the top 10 Most Powerful Women
in Banking category, in addition to garnering the top team award.
The team ranking is based on the financial performance of the company,
percentage of women officers and executives firm wide, performance of
women-led business units and functional areas, and growth-engine
businesses led by women. This is the fifth year that U.S. Banker has
published a "Most Powerful Women in Banking”
issue and the second year that the magazine has featured a team award.
U.S. Bancorp has taken top honors both times.
Pam Joseph, vice chairman for payments, and Diane Thormodsgard, vice
chairman of wealth management at U.S. Bancorp, were named among the most
powerful women in banking. Joseph ranked sixth and Thormodsgard ranked
tenth.
"After profiling hundreds of women during the
past five years, it has become clear that organizations that foster
greater diversity among their executive ranks produced top performances
and more tightly integrated visions across the banking enterprise. In
2007, U.S. Bancorp has demonstrated this excellence, led in great part
by the enormous contributions of Pam Joseph and Diane Thormodsgard. The
leadership they demonstrate echoes throughout the organization,”
said Holly Sraeel, editor-in-chief of U.S. Banker magazine.
"Those of us who have the great pleasure of
working with these women day in and day out know how fortunate we are to
call them colleagues,” said Richard Davis,
president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bancorp. "We
are deeply grateful and appreciative of the wealth of talent that we
have across this company, men and women. I welcome every opportunity to
remind them just how valuable they are to our company, and why they make
this one of the best places to work.”
